Hi Ariella,
Problems with milk supply can be stressful for any mother and it sounds like you don't need any more stress at the moment. I hope that all the issues get resolved easily and quickly. In the meantime, there are some things you can do to boost your milk production. Pumping and eating well are two good first steps. You might also want to consider supplementing with herbs. Herbs are commonly used to increase milk supply, with fenugreek and blessed thistle being the two most common. Alfalfa, nettle, and red raspberry leaf are also excellent choices. Herbs are typically taken in either tea or tincture form and you may be able to find a pre-blended nursing formula in your local health food store. Rescue remedy (a Bach flower remedy) can be useful if you are feeling stressed about nursing. Eating oatmeal is another trick. Oats are high in iron and b-vitamins. They are extremely nourishing for the nervous system which makes it great in times of stress. Many nursing moms find that eating oatmeal regularly helps boost milk production. I hope that these suggestions are helpful and that your milk supply improves soon.

There is a wonderful book called "The Ultimate Breastfeeding Book of Answers" that has many suggestions. Besides pumping and herbs, you can try a technique of compressing the breast (kind of like milking a cow) that delivers more milk to the baby. Also, there is a very effective medication called Domperidone, but if you want to try it, you need to find an "alternative" type of doctor to proscribe it for you because although it is legal in Canada, Australia, and most civilized countries, it is not approved by the FDA. But a compounding pharmacy in the U.S. can make it for you. I have been on it for a couple months because I almost totally lost my milk, and it works like a miracle. Good luck to you.
