My 29 year old son has ADD. He has trouble holding down a job. He can't focus on things for a long period of time. BUt he looks completely normal. People don't understand how difficult it is for me to deal with him. He mismanages money terribly and I am always bailing him out and I'm not prepared to see him face all the consequences of his mistakes because he would be in jail or on the street if I did that. I'm prepared to take care of it all I just wish people could understand and support me better. I get a lot of criticism even from my husband and other kids.

I have adult ADHD and my mother and I are in a similar situation. I'm 46 and I'm really scared about my future. I feel like I'm a burden to my mom and it has really tested our relationship. I think your son is VERY lucky to have a loving parent like you. My mom has also been a buffer to the consequences my choices bring and I'm grateful to her beyond words. I understand what you guys are going through and I just wanted to tell you that you're not alone. Hang in there and try to stay positive because it's a battle for sure.
