There is a wonderful CD to prepare people for surgery. It's put out by Bellruth Naparstek on her website www.healthjourneys.com. It is meant to address all aspects of surgery stress and anxiety. Your daughter can start listening to that daily now. Also, she can take the Bach Flower "Mimulus" which is for specific fears and phobias, and "Star of Bethlehem" which is for trauma. At the time of surgery, she can take Rescue Remedy just before her operation and right after. Anxiety is "irrational" - not something that you can talk a person out of. Therefore you don't have to try to talk your daughter into a better place. Rather, accept her understandable and natural feelings of fear and help her to heal them in these ways. Also, you can have someone teach her EFT (emotional freedom technique) or The WHEE - two self-help energy psychology tools that greatly reduce anxiety. Look for practitioners on-line. Good luck, Sarah Chana

help her prepare for the surgery. One thing you can do which we do when my brother needs to go to the hospital is we talk with the doctors involve before hand. Let them tell her what they're going to do exactly what she can expect and what they can do to make sure it won't cause her pain this time.
From this I can not tell if the pain came after surgery or during surgery but there are always ways to make sure she won't feel pain. I myself have the problems that some anesthetics and/or painkillers don't work on me causing me to either feel pain or be aware during or after surgery but that can be prevented by having a monitor there to check on the brain activity during surgery. If it's after you can check with the doctor if there any pain prevention medications she can take perhaps she'll simply need a higher doses of pain killers. It happens. If you have a high pain toleration or a high immune system like I do certain medications won't work at all or not very long. For me 500 gram paracetamol tablets only work for up to 30 minutes to relieve pain and finimal or other painkillers of lower strength then paracetamol don't work at all.
