Two years can be trained if they are ready. Readiness is shown by an ability to stay dry for long periods and to "wait" when a washroom is not available, and also by their expressed interest in using the toilet. Most kids go through a readiness period when they are two. If the parent doesn''t take advantage of that period, toilet training sometimes becomes harder and slower later on. However, there are no guarantees or absolutes in this matter. Your child may do fine being trained at a later time. Meanwhile, if you can get her to a toilet when she indicates she wants to go, go ahead. There is no downside to trying. Toddlers feel very competent when they can use the toilet. This may be a rewarding activity for her, so go for it. Sarah Chana
