Our 8 yr old daughter still likes her Dad or I to lie down with her at night so she can fall asleep. We take turns doing it. Often we'll fall asleep before she does! We don't mind do this because it's a nice break for us too, but my mother told me she thinks this is crazy - that an 8 yr old should be able to put herself to sleep and that we're babying her needlessly. Is there a problem with our bedtime routine?
