We have a rule that our 14 yr daughter who has a curfew of 11 p.m. She is supposed to call home if she will be late. Last night she came home over an hour late and she never even called us to let us know what was happening. When she finally arrived I told her that she's grounded for a month. My wife thinks this is too harsh because this is the first time she ever forgot to call. What do you say?
I think instead of grounding for a month change her curfew to something like 7pm so she can still go out and have social time but can not stay out late. I would also do this for about a month. Changing what you already told her looks flakey and like you will change her punishment to something less sever every time.
