| Fortunately, in today's world there are support groups for every kind of special needs child. There are some groups on the internet, in hospitals and in the community. You should ask your doctor to point you in the right direction or at least refer you to a specialized social worker in the Asperger's community who can direct you. Moms and Dads of Asperger's kids may be found in specific Asperger Groups or in groups for Autistic Spectrum Children or sometimes in groups for special needs kids. Let your professionals guide you to the places where you'll be able to meet parents like yourselves.

| I have a boy with Asperger's Syndrome. I found it very difficult until he was diagnosed, at about the age of 8. Once diagnosed, and with brilliant support at secondary school, it has been wonderful to parent him. He is now nearly 15 and I would not change a thing. He is a delightful teenager to have - not wanting to hang around in groups in town, but taking an interest in flying lessons instead (expensive, but he's cheap to run otherwise!). He is coping with a full set of GCSE subjects and is not in the least worried about exams. Takes it all in his stride. I think he is still quite young in his outlook and will try to help him through some minefields in social skills when it comes to girlfriends.
