| The technical term for pulling eye-lashes, eye-brows and hair is called "trichotillamania." It is a habit that waxes and wanes and is thought to have a biological basis. There are certain medications and psychotherapies that have been known to help this habit. Behavior Therapy, for instance, has a good track record for this problem, as does treatment with SSRI's. However, if the problem is not that bothersome or severe, you might first look into alternative therapies such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique - see www.emofree.com) that has helped some sufferers or Bach Flower Therapy (see bachflower.com), a form of vibrational medicine that has helped people as well. Giving no treatment at all usually results in this disorder lasting a lifetime with episodes increasing during times of stress. So talk it over with your daughter, letting her know her options. You can certainly discuss the issue with her doctor as well as there may be more treatment options available. Sarah Chana.
