| Yes teenagers do tend to experiment - with alcohol and with many other things as well. If your teenager has been drunk once or twice, this does not indicate a problem that needs intensive rehabilitation. On the other hand, if he is under the influence so often that he can't function well at home or school then he definitely does need professional intervention. Assuming that the latter is not the case, your job is to keep the lines of communication open. Talk to him about substance abuse, its signs and signals, its dangers - talk to him about moderate lifestyles, safe use of alcohol and so on. If you are worried or concerned about any aspect of his behavior, tell him about it. Give him the information he needs about the law and alcohol, including the extreme dangers of drunk driving. If you've done all that and your son is maintaining his grades, getting up in the morning, interacting normally with friends and so on, then you've done all you need to be doing at this time.
