| Babies can't be reasoned with. They settle where they want to settle. Usually they like to settle in arms that have a calm energy - perhaps your husband has a bit too much energy for this infant. However, the more your husband holds the baby, the more comfortable the baby will become with him (and the more comfortable your husband will become also). Therefore, I suggest you encourage your husband to keep holding the baby at least for a few minutes before he hands the child over to you. Stretch the holding time longer and longer over the next few weeks. Let your husband know that it's important to you that he and the baby get to know each other comfortably because you need relief and assitance - you need your husband's support. He'll probably be happy to do this for you even if he feels a bit discouraged at first about the baby's preference for your arms. When he understands how important his participation is to you, he will probably be more willing to persevere to forge a secure bond with the baby.
