| No one likes to make their baby cry! It's usually hard for parents to take their infants for shots. However, most people put themselves and their infants through the unpleasantness in the spirit if "short term pain for long term gain." Instead of relying on your friend for information about immunization, why don't you ask your doctor for the facts and figures. If you are suspicious of the medical profession, then ask your naturopath. You can also do internet research, getting the statistics on illness caused by immunization versus illness prevented by immunization as well as the information on current levels of risk. You will encounter conflicting information and will need to draw your own conclusions. But at least you will have made an informed choice. (People who don't want to go through this, just rely on their health practitioner's advice). In some places, polio has surfaced again - is this because too many people felt that they no longer needed immunization? For such an important matter, an investment of serious time and attention and consideration seems appropriate. Sarah Chana
